PASSION FOR TEXTURE

TEXTURE

Loving this color combination….that peachy color I poured has tinted iridescent medium in it so it will have a beautiful, funky, metallic look when it’s dry. Can’t get enough of that underlying texture below the gesso either. Interesting things are happening after every pour.

Continuing to play with my hands on the canvas. The depth created is fascinating to me. It’s also a great way to blend the colors easily, a lot or a little, depending on how much paint I put on the canvas. Then alternating the pours with the hand painting gives even more depth and texture.

Trying something new to me…fabric! These are strips of fabric dipped in paint & medium. When they dry they will adhere to the canvas whichever way I lay them down. Feeling some love and influence from my Mentor Camille Patha. She has been using fabric in her work for awhile now and in a much grander way, sculpturally, but I couldn’t not try it! If you don’t know her, check out her website here: Camille Patha. She is having a fantastic show coming up in March at the Tacoma Art Museum-go see it! Here is the link for the show: Upcoming – Tacoma Art Museum.
