DEVIL IN THE DETAILS

DETAILS 1

Working on a series of 4 paintings. This is a detail of one painting. The compositions are based on a painting that my Dad painted a long time ago, a very special childhood place with warm memories, the skeleton tree. Gold background with warm oranges, pinks & yellow’s with bold strokes of dark thick lines. Love the 3D effect that is happening. Using a palette knife and using the fluid paint right out of the bottle for some of the line work.

More details in the layers of another painting, wet paint on top. I have really been getting my finger marks in my paintings. Using the paint right out of the tube onto my fingers, dry onto the canvas. It creates a fascinating texture. The skeleton tree was a fascinating place. It was a tree by the creek high up on the bank with exposed roots. Inside the exposed roots were animal dens with bones, remains of dinner, hence the skeleton tree.
