AUGUST 2018

This month has been super busy and super fun!!  I have had the most wonderful opportunities to see art and of course make art…..

The Percival Plaza Project is still in the studio but getting ready for a photo shoot and installing the 3rd floor the 2nd week of September.  The second floor will be installed several weeks later after the paint and carpet is installed. And the good news is that the client has ordered 10 MORE paintings for the 1st floor!  So pleased to continue working on this project-the collaboration is fantastic.

The Seattle Art Fair was at the beginning of the month, very insightful….lots to see and take in.  Enjoyed seeing what the galleries showed and what the art market is expecting. Sipped champagne and looked at art (impressive & not impressive), people watched, had many discussions with Gallerists-my cup runneth over!

Had an opportunity to stop in at the Tacoma Art Museum and the Bellevue Art Museum on separate visits.  Tacoma Art Museum surprised me with 2 of my absolute favorite artists-Georgia O’Keefe and Jacob Lawrence-paintings I had not seen before.  Georgia O’Keefe ‘Patio Door/Green and Red’ 1951 Oil on Canvas. Jacob Lawrence ‘Ten Builders’ 1996 Soft ground etching with aquatint. What a treat!

The Bellevue Art Museum has the best entrance, I always love going past the big letters….Alex Katz has a beautiful show on the 3rd floor and another artist I did not know but so glad I discovered, Richard Barlow. Richard Barlow ‘Photogenic Drawing’ 2014 Sterling silver leaf on paper. If you don’t know him, look him up.  What a creative artist-his use of materials just blew me away.

I also attended the ribbon cutting of the Brookville Garden park in the City of Fife.  As an art commissioner in the City of Fife, this was an opportunity to meet several politicians that were instrumental in getting this park to fruition along with the family who donated the land, the Yotsuuye family.  The park has one piece of art already installed from the art commission and there will be more to come. It’s a wonderful park to have a picnic, walk and enjoy art!

Lastly, SAVE THE DATES!  September 14th is the Kirkland Art Walk and I will have paintings hanging in Honeymoon Financial Strategies.  They are located at 720 Market Street, Suite A. Just a block or so up from the Kirkland Art Center

October 13th & 14th, my studio will be open from 11am-5pm for the Tacoma Arts Month studio tour!  There are so many studios to visit, make art and nearby there are always great restaurants-make sure to grab a map with all the studio locations.  You can easily make a day of it! Stop by my studio for a bite, cheer, and of course new work!
